Received the follow messages:
1) NEC told me they would have
drivers by the release of Win2k, and now they tell me: NEC remains
committed to providing its users with the best possible support and to
maintaining the value of their printing investment. However, based upon
the current demand we cannot justify the development of Windows NT 4.0
or Windows 2000 drivers for your printer. So my NEC SuperScript which I
purchased 6 months ago is now a new paperweight. Nice. Maybe if enough
people complain (demand!) they will make Win2k drivers: tscprinters@nectech.com
2) Apparently NEC will never make drivers for this printer. However I read somewhere that the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 1100L driver for Windows XP works with the NEC SuperScript 660plus. So I tried the Windows 2000 driver for the Minolta PageWorks/Pro 1100L and it prints perfectlty to my NEC SuperScript 660Plus. My paperweight now prints again!

NEC Superscript 860 Laser Printer (5)

Although it detects and installs drivers, the driver
it is using is only the HPII PCL4 driver - IT IS NOT THE NATIVE NEC DRIVER. So
you can't print at 600dpi, you can only print at 300dpi. NEC won't respond to
any of our technician's emails.

The generic unidriver works, as well as the HP laserjet III (PCL) driver, but do not support 600 dpi operation (300dpi max), or advanced features like double-sided printing

Max res at 1024x768 70hz refresh when installing after 2000 is installed, remember to set the resolution down to 1024x768 60hz or lower

Everything runs perfectly.
