I was going to dispose of the modem because of
the negative results I reported earlier to this page with the Best Data
modem, but I found some PCTel '7.66-9K-01' drivers for the 789T chipset
from Zoltrix that enabled this HSP modem to work under Windows 2000. The
driver installation required a 'full-duplex' driver from the Windows 2000
CD also. The modem connection sounds play through the computer speakers.
The modem connection speeds with Windows 2000 the two times I have
connected so far seem a little slow compared to using the same modem under
Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 98.

Win2k detects the modem correctly but then asks for driver disk. The Best Data website does not provide any drivers for anything other than Win98.

Very cheap HSP PCI modem
based on PCtel PCT789T-A chip. Works under both Windows 98 SE and
Windows NT 4.0 with appropriate drivers supplied on CD-ROM in box.
